OPENING AND BLESSING OF ST PETER’S COLUMBARIUM

The event will be live-streamed on Youtube.

Those who are unable to attend Mass may follow the ceremony (approximately at 8.30am on Sunday, 24 March 2019) at the link below.

Dear friends in Christ,

His Grace, Archbishop Simon Poh has agreed to open and bless our St Peter’s Columbarium, on Sunday, 24 March 2019, the eve of the feast of Annunciation with the celebration of the Eucharist at 7.30 a.m.

Before Mass, all the urns at our temporary holding will be moved to the Church. Immediately after Mass, family members will bring the urns in procession to the columbarium. The Archbishop will then declare the Columbarium open and bless it. Family members will intern the urns to their respective niches. After the blessing, a simple fellowship will follow outside the columbarium immediately.

Before all these can take place, the following needs to be done:

For those whose urns are kept at the temporary holding behind the church:

  1. Family members need to come to our Parish office to claim the Plaque in order to send it for engraving of the name and addition of a photograph (either colour or black and white). This must be done by our appointed contractor. Though the marble Plaque is free, the engraving of the name and addition of the photograph is to be paid for by family members. The photograph must be passport sized.
  2. The engraving of the plaque must be done on, or before 20th March, 2019 in order to participate at the opening and blessing ceremony.
  3. Each family is to send a representative for a briefing on 23rd March, 2019 at 10 a.m. in the Church.

For those whose urns are not kept at the temporary holding behind the Church:

  1. Those who have booked a niche in the columbarium and their urns are not in the temporary holding behind the church but would like to join in the opening and blessing ceremony need to report to the Parish Office as soon as possible, preferably before the end of January, 2019.
  2. Family members need to make the necessary arrangement to have the urns brought back to Kuching in advance – not later than 20th March, 2019.
